It’s been a month now since I got the keys to my new studio at Wollongong City Gallery and I have been so flat out I haven’t had time to post any updates till now…sorry. You can keep up with my random daily happenings via Twitter (@poncho_army or follow the hash tag #wcgair) or check back here every week or two.

With the help of a few friends everything is now moved in including my vintage parker stencil table and the new massive light table, which I scored for only $150 – go Ebay. Also an extremely heavy pallet of specially cut printing card that I sourced through the lovely crew at Print Media. Boxes & boxes of paint, one of which busted and paint rolled down 3 flights of stairs. Plus other stuff like screens, inks, records, Degrassi DVD collection…
The gallery staff left me a few pieces of large cardboard, thinking I would be able to paint on them, but I decided to use them to make a spray painting room. I got the cardboard to section off 1/6th of the studio, fixed some drop sheets (very Dexter) moved in some tables, installed the screen hinges and brought in an extractor fan to help rid the fumes of the spray paint and screen printing inks.
With everything set up I am now working full time in the space. The first illustration has been sent off to get burnt on to a screen so I can start pulling the first 55 prints next week. I am 95% finished on the 2nd illustration (pics below) so I am currently on track!

I will be teaching 2 stencil workshops in August for teenagers, both are now full. Another course is now open during the school holidays for ages 9-14 for 5th October, 2012. Email me if you have a kid that may be interested. Adults, I will hopefully be lining up some courses for summer.

Below are some pics from the last month.

Nicely stocked paint shelves, awesome records, wicked space. Congrats and looking forward to seeing the finished series of work.
